Gerard Culhane Attorneys have been servicing the West Rand since 1994. 

We undertake civil litigation, criminal matters, property transfers, matrimonial matters, alternative dispute resolution [mediation and arbitration], drafting of contracts and drafting of Wills. 

Our offices are situated at No. 28 Rex Street, Roodepoort which is directly across the road from the Magistrate’s Court Roodepoort, which is also the Regional Court for the West Rand Region. 

In the circumstances we can  be of assistance to attorneys in other areas, by acting as their local correspondent attorney. 

It is our custom to enter into written fee agreements with all clients so that clients know at all times exactly what their exposure is in terms of payment for services rendered. 

We undertake collections on a contingency basis subject to the Rules of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces.  All such agreements are also entered into in writing so that the client knows exactly what percentage of the money to be recovered will be debited as a fee for services rendered.

As far as possible, we try to provide the client with a pre-estimate of the costs of a matter before advising a client to embark on any matter which would involve litigation and possible exposure to an adverse costs order. 

Having been involved in litigation for many years, it is our policy to avoid litigation on behalf of our clients, rather than become involved in litigation, but if there is no alternative, we believe that we have the required experience  to guide our clients through any unavoidable litigation in a manner which will secure the best possible result.
